Guide for Avorion – Scrapyard Basics – How to get the most from your enemies

Love blowing ships up but need the resources to upgrade your ship still and loathe sitting around blasting rocks or hauling cargo? I’ve got the tricks and tips you need to turn your passion into quick and easy resources!

Blowing Ships Up

Now, as I am sure you already know while blowing a ship up, pieces are destroyed along with it. This makes it critical to know exactly which pieces contain the most scrap and purposely not targeting them during your assault.

What you’re going to want to avoid targeting with your guns are generators (Both energy and shield), warp cores, capacitors, and integrity booster. All the blocks that look like they have flowing veins of whatever the material color is are prime targets visually. The image above highlights a few of those.

Hull blocks, armor, and crew quarters are the ones you really want to target with your damaging weapon array.

Salvaging Turrets – Tools of the Trade

Like mining turrets, the turrets that are a higher-level material salvage one level above. Meaning that your Titanium salvager will need to be swapped when you reach Trinium.

The stats you really need to focus on when selecting your turret are damage and efficiency. The higher the damage, the less time it takes to salvage, and the higher your efficiency, the more return you get from the total resources used on the vessel. I’ve noticed the average for me so far is around 20%, and I’d say at least get that much because anything less is just wasting time.

You can get these turrets in one of two ways. Either blow uploads of ships and hope they drop or stop by a shop with a processor chip for its icon. Either one not only sells turrets and upgrades but also buys them! Great to get rid of loads of gear you are floating around with that’s pretty much useless.

Results!

So, you’ve blown your ship up, and you know how much resources are onboard. Now it’s time to salvage! Targeting the parts of the ship you had ignored before while destroying it, turn all of your weapons off except for your salvagers! This is important and bears repeating.

Disable all non-salvaging hardpoints!

I speculate that it calculates whatever weapon hit the block last to determine whether it was a salvager or not, but it’s hard to regulate what does damage last with lasers and machine guns. Plus, two or three salvagers tend to rip through the targets you are grabbing pretty quickly, even if they are large. Avoid targeting hull and armor blocks, as they are a waste of time for very little return.

And tada!

You can be a hotshot pilot living on the edge and reaping the rewards of your destructive nature, or be good at maximizing your salvage yard takeaway.

Salvage away!
