Guide for Avorion – System-by-System Production Chains

This Guide is organized by single, individual systems and what you can pack into these systems for “organized” factory production chains. After looking through the wiki and elsewhere, I simply wanted a better way to figure out exactly what a single system could do on its own and how best to utilize claimable asteroids.

This “Guide” does not go into great detail on which Factory product goes to which, nor the amount/conversion of each material. It is simply to help identify which factories can be chained together in a single system in order to complete a production. This way, you can reduce the number of jumps needed to transport the final product in one system to the next line of production in another.

3 Asteroid Mines per system are the best for this setup obviously; Systems with 2 Asteroid Mines are capable of providing some material to complete certain supply chains, but for this setup I will focus on optimization with those rarer systems that have 3 mines in them.Note: Will be ignoring most Biotope Productions as they are limited in use/income. However, there will be a few that are required and by no means do you need to exclude them yourself.

The Initial System Setup: 23 Stations
In this first system, you can have upwards to 20 stations that need no imported materials. You can of course have additional stations and simply import the material needed (as there are a few factories that would only need 1 more item to complete the production), But 20 stations might be pushing the limits on what one system should have going on in it. Especially considering the hundreds of transport fighters that might be flying around. Up to you really.

Mines:

This 2nd system, in some way or another, requires components from the 1st system in order to complete a production. The end result of which is further moved along to the 3rd System.

Solar Power Station, Gas Collector Type 1 (Helium, Hydrogen, Neon, Chlorine),

Additional:
Ammunition Factory Type 1&2 (Requires Lead Mine that should be founded outside of 3-system setup),

Roughly 70+ Stations in 3 systems to complete the vast majority of Trade/Production chains. Obviously, it is probably best to spread this out a tad bit more. It is probably better to setup the “advanced” factories (end product) in their own system and simply import everything needed from the other locations; especially considering the number of stations that would be filled in the 3rd system. But the choice is yours.

PS: Now i know i probably missed a few things and I can only proofread this thing so much without my head exploding. If there is something that i should probably add, overlooked, or messed up on, let me know and I’ll get around to fixing it.

How to Setup Automated Trade Routes (thankyou Forger of Souls for the suggestion)

1st:
To Buy products from a station/system…

A: Go to the Galaxy Map “M”.

B: Select the ship you wish to use for trading. > This opens up its command tab.

C: Select the product that you wish to use. >Typing product name helps.

D: Select the amount to have on ship. >The ship will not trade if you input an amount it cannot carry.

E: Optional: Be sure to check off the box that tells the ship to prefer your own stations. >If there are NPC stations around.

You should not have to input a price/% in order to pickup your own stations product.

NOTE: If there is not enough of the product, the ship may end up waiting for it to be produced before moving along.

Also: If you wish to have multiple, different products on your ship, you will have to use the Waypoint “Shift” and choose products you want individually (following the same process as before).

2nd:
In Order to Setup Automated Transport…

With the Galaxy Map open AND after having gone through the process of setting up you ship to acquire the products to be shipped.

A: Press Shift and click on the destination. >Keep holding shift and select route if it will take more than one jump to reach destination.

B: While continuing to hold down “Shift”: Select “Sell” on the ship command tab and then choose the product you wish to sell. (You will have to do this for each product).

NOTE: Be aware that, in order to sell the product, you will have to select the product and then set the number to have on board the ship to 0 (zero).> effectively, you are are telling your ship how much to have on board when you leave the system.

Also (and since I’ve been a bit too busy as of late to test it): I can’t recall if there was a “Loop” tab or something on the command tab.> If not you might have to go through the whole process again.

Extra’s (by Cheerkin)

It is potentially possible to have more than 3 mining stations in a single system.

This is done via “acquiring” (aka: borrowing with no intention or returning, aka: stealing) NPC stations.

So, if you are so inclined to do so, that is a possibility and would very likely allow you to compress even more into a single system.

Again, your computers performance will vary; so filling a single sector with over 50+ stations is done at your own risk.
