This is a temporary solution for anyone who has the blackscreen bug.
 

Intro

Many people are still complaining about the black screen bug. This prevents someone from playing once they have started the game.
 
 
These are possible because of two events that trigger a video. One is Devolver Digital logo. Another is Intro cinematic in which the lamb receives The Red Crown.
 
The problem is that at the moment, video playback doesn't work.
 
However, the game won’t progress until it registers "The video has finished playing."
 
 
The video is not playing, but the game waits for it to finish.
 
 
I suffered this problem, and with the help others in a Tech Support discussion, I was able reverse engineer one.dll file to make a simple fix.
 
 
 

How to apply the workaround

It really isn’t that difficult. It's only a quick file-replacement.
 
 
Simple run through:
 
 

1. Check which fix you're looking for
2. Download the.dll files from this link
3. Replace the matching.dll from the Cult of the Lamb files under the folder 'Managed.
4. Start the game

1. Identify the fix that you require
 
 
First, determine the type of fix you require.
 
After receiving the Red Crown the first fix skips Devolver Digital splash emblem, and Intro cinematic.
 
After receiving the Red Crown, the second Fix skips only and the Intro Cinematic.
 
 
In a simple word, if the Ma*sive Monster logo is not visible, get the first fix.
 
If you are experiencing a black screen, it is possible to get the second treatment by receiving the Red Crown from One Who Waits.
 
If you don’t have the answer, get it.
 
 
2. Download the.dll archive
 
 
Below are the links to the file you require. They are called.dll and you don't need any explanation.
 
The link will take your to my google folder. Click the right-click and download the one which interests you.
 
 

 
 
3. Navigate to your correct folder
 
 
The Managed folder in the game folders is the one to locate. There are two ways to reach it.
 
 
It's also possible to access it through Steam
 
 

1. Right click the Steam title
2. Go on 'Properties.
3. Go to Local Files'
4. Go on 'Browse …'
5. Open "Cult Of The Lamb_Data".
6. Open "Managed".

 
You can also use File Explorer for a quick way to get there.
 
Simply go directly to:
 
 
"C:\Program Files (x86 – \Steam\steamapps\common\Cult of the Lamb\Cult Of The Lamb_Data\Managed"
 
 
(Assuming that the game is installed on your C. Drive, if not, just replace the drive-letter of course.
 
 

 
 
3. Replace the file
 
 
Simply copy the file once you have reached this folder.
 
It will prompt for you to select whether you want the files to be replaced or skipped.
 
Click Replace the file to the destination'.
 
 
4. Start the game
 
 
That's it! Start the game!
 
Assuming that this was done during the game's close, if not you can simply restart it.

Notes

These fixes are valid only until the official patch that fixes these problems is available.
 
When the patch is available, it will automatically fix the file you modified.
 
 
This does not mean that the file will be reverted every time a patch is made.
 
 
In the event that a patch does not fix the problem, you will need a new file.
 
 
This will not affect your save games, although I doubt it. However, there are many bugs at the moment. You might want to save your save file just in case a patch is available that fixes it. It would not make sense if it did. But, just to be safe.
 
 
This is a good thing to do in case of another bug that can permanently corrupt your save.
 
 
To go to:
 
 
'C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\LocalLow\Ma*sive Monster\Cult Of The Lamb'
 
 
Make sure you replace %USERNAME%with your username.
 
 
Once you have found it, copy the entire saves folder to another place as a backup.
 
This should be done regularly.
 
 
Be careful. You risk losing your save files if you accidentally delete it.
 
You can always recycle it, but you won't be able to get it back. It's gone. .
 
 

I am not liable if you accidentally delete your save. Use caution when saving game files.
