Method: For some reason, crafting Epic quality grenades costs only common and uncommon item components. When you dismantle your epic grenade, you’ll get back 3 rare item components, 3 rare upgrade components,1 epic item component, and 5 epic upgrade components. With the Cost Optimization perk maxed out (reduces the component cost of crafting items by 30%), it costs 1 common and 1 uncommon item components per grenade.
