Official Play Guide
This article will explain the basics and help you to master and solve all the routing logic puzzles in the game.
Introduction
Finley's-The Colour of Radiation
Welcome to Refraction Laboratories, the test candidate. This is a simple puzzle in which you move laboratory objects around to redirect, split/merge a laser beam to intercept or remove strange alien matter.
The game is both touch and mouse friendly. Items can be moved using a drag and dropped interface.
You are up against Finley 808 the maniacal AI who is determined to destroy you. After each level, the clock and minimum expectations of score and move counts are used to determine your abilities.
Drag and Drop
Drag and drop experimental devices around on the labfloor to redirect, split and merge the laser light to destroy alien excreta.
If nothing moves, the DEATH RAY… Focused laser light beam… Will fire and deploy automatically. It takes just a second or so to deploy.
Don't hold on too long to the lab tools, as the laser will overheat the devices and blow the fuses.
Laboratory Sterilization protocols (Countdown to a Failure)
DO NOT let the laser touch the sides of the lab. If you do, it will take you all the energy containmentfuses to blow to complete this level.
DO NOT hold on to laboratory devices for too long. The laser will produce excessive heat, which can cause the fuse to blow!
Your score or attainment mark is based upon the number of moves, alien trash blobs that you have cleared in one hit, laser light to color match and the time it took to clear the level.
So be quick and accurate in your test!
Know your Lab – Reflectors & Blockers, Tee Splitters and Tee Splitters
A "Reflector" redirects the beam in the direction of it's arrow designation.
A "Blocker" stops the light beam (No entry style designation)
Similar to a Reflector, a "Tee Splitter" will split the beam along the directions of it's T shape (…You're plumbing with light! ).
Know Your Lab Cross Splitters, RGB Splitters
The "Cross Splitter" splits the beam in all directions.
Similar to a Cross Splitter, the "RGB Splitter" will split the red, green and blue light from a beam in the different directions.
Know Your Laboratory – Light Filters
When trying to match beam colour to alien waste blob, different coloured "Light Filters" will only allow their particular colour through (Remember, white light contains Red, Green and Blue light).
"As an AI sentient, it amazes me how bright humans don’t understand how primary colours can be combined to make other colors.
You may boast of the achievements of Einstein and Newton as a species. But really. The number of test subject I see who didn't know Red & Green makes Yellow, Red & Blue makes Magenta and, um…, Blue & Green makes Cyan.
Please, 80 billion neurons! Not one helping… I will get to know this species one day."
Game Options
You can visit the game option screen from the main menu. This allows you to modify various aspects of this game.
Speed Runner Mode
If you think you can complete the entire 51 levels in record time and score, then why not try "Speed Runner Mode"?
You can tick it in the options to speed up level transformations and give a better timer. The current run, personal peak, and last run are displayed. Also, the measurements (time, rating etc.) will be available.
This is a great speed runner mode. You can also quit at any time using the "quitters” buttons!
To reset all speed runner data, you can also use the Game Play (optionsscreen) button.
