You are reading this guide because you are either a new player, wishing to know what you can get out of having friends on My Singing Monsters, or a seasoned player looking to add new friends, or maybe even both! Anyway, enjoy the guide!

How to Add Friends

First we need to get this very basic thing out of the way, but this is still important! How do you add friends? Don’t fear, my baby biscuit. This will cover the easiest way to add friends: Friend Codes! Friends can be added by typing in someone’s unique friend code into the “Add Via Friend Code” button. Simply follow these easy steps, and you’ll be set!

1. Click on the “Friends” button on the bottom of the hud

You can also copy+paste (ctrl+c, ctrl+v) friend codes into this bar!

Once you add some friends, you will be able to see your friends display names, their monster icon, level, islands, how many torches you have lit up for them, how many they have lit up for you, and which friends have Wishing Torches waiting to be lit!

The Benefits of Having Friends

Having friends on My Singing Monsters can help you progress in the game greatly! There are three ways that you can both help and benefit from having friends. These include:

-Lighting Torches
-Gifting Keys
-Island Upvotes

Without further ado, let us commence forth.

Torch Lighting

Lighting torches is one of the most helpful and important things in the entire game. To put it simply, torches can increase your chances of breeding special, hard to get monsters such as:

-Quad Elements
-Rares
-Epics
-Legendaries
-Mysticals
-Etherals
-Any Other Monster You Are Having Trouble Breeding For

I heavily recommend you to read this guide all about Wishing Torches, whether you are new or seasoned! It goes more into detail about Wishing Torches, as well as some good friend etiquette.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2476401322
Wishing Torches are available at level 12, and cost 10,000 coins per torch. You can place a total of 10 Wishing Torches per island (except for Wublin, Gold, Celestial, Tribal, Colossingum, and Composer)

Wishing Torches can be lit by friends every 24 hours, so it is important to try to try to log into My Singing Monsters at least once a day to make sure your friends have lit up torches, and they will do the same! You and your friends can light up an unlimited amount of torches for eachother for absolutely free!

You can see which friends have Wishing Torches available to be lit up by you by clicking on the fire icon that appears above your friends list, which saves a lot of time from having to go through each page and finding which friends have a fire icon above their monster icon!

When you visit a friend’s island and they have Wishing Torches to be lit up by you, it will be displayed to you like this:
My Singing Monsters - Friend Guide: Friend Code Mega Thread + Benefits of Having Friends

Once you choose a torch to light up for them, the other fire icons above the Wishing Torches will disappear, and one will be lit up!

The torch will not be lit up until the owner chooses to light them up themselves, at a time when they can utilize them as much as possible, so don’t worry about lighting up a torch at an unreasonably late time. The flame is only displayed like that to anyone visiting the island.

Here is how it looks like to the owner when someone lights up their torches:

As you can see, it shows the name of the person who lit up a particular torch, as well as their monster icon.

Want your friends to light up a specific island’s torches? One way is to change your display name. To change it, click on the Options button, which is on the bottom right of the screen. You can change your display name as much as you want for free, all without cooldown! Just add the name(s) of the island(s) you want torches to be lit at the end of your display name! You may have friends who do this, so pay attention to their names when you go to light torches too!

Additional Tips:
-You can light these torches at any time, so sometimes being patient and waiting a few days until most/all of your torches are lit is the best option, as having 10 torches lit in one particular day gives you a higher chance of getting that special monster you are breeding for than having 1-4 torches lit every day. Save your torches!

So go out there and light some torches for your friends, as they will do the same for you! 🙂

Key Gifting

Keys are used to by Dipsters, seven special little monsters available in almost every island, which all sing one note in the musical scale (Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti) You can place up to ten Dipsters per island!

Dipsters cost +1 key per Dipster after every island.

Key Cost Per Dipster:
Plant: 1 Key
Cold: 2 Keys
Air: 3 Keys
Water: 4 Keys
Earth: 5 Keys
Haven: 3 Keys
Oasis: 3 Keys
Etheral: 7 Keys

With that being said, friends can gift other friends 1 key every 7 days. Some people who may not like Dipsters can gift their weekly key to someone who is trying to get all Dipsters for their islands, especially those who ask for key donations through their display names!

Additional Tips:
-Occasionally, there are Dipster sales, in which all Dipsters cost 1 key each, no matter what island it is on! *wink wink* 😉

-Monsters level 16+ can randomly generate 1 key, however they do not show that they have a key until you collect from it. Get feeding!

OH GOD PLEASE DON’T BUY KEYS WITH REAL MONEY. IT’S NOT WORTH IT BRO.

Island Upvoting

There is a player who wants their island to one day be seen in the Worldwide Top Islands, and that person is you! Luckily, your friends can upvote all of your islands every 24 hours when they visit you, which makes it perfect for when they are lighting up your torches, as they can just like the island whilst lighting a torch! What was that saying? Two girls one cu- No no no, Two birds with one stone!

Only you can see how many likes your islands have, as well as what placement they are in the Global Island Rankings. You can check this by clicking on the Info button on any castle, and then clicking on the Stats button.

Here are some screenshots of my Plant Island being Globally Ranked #85 back in the week of April 18th, 2021!

Additional Tips:
You can also mention what island you want your friends to upvote in your display name!
Fun Fact:
Celestial Island and Wublin Island are the only two islands where you cannot see how many likes you have, since they don’t have castles.

Be A Good Friend Back

When you have this much help from friends, the best thing to do is give a lil bit back. Help out the community that is giving you all these torch lights, keys, and upvotes by returning the favor! Be active and be there when your friends are in need! It’s the least you can do 🙂

Steam Friend Code Thread Links

I found two sites that have a bunch of friend codes for steam users. The first one is
https://mysingingmonsters.fandom.com/wiki/Friend_Codes/Steam
There is also a mobile version of this. Grouped up by months, people with fandom accounts can update this page and put in their friend code as well as an additional message for everyone on the internet to add, as well as so that you can add hundreds of these! You will have 20+ pages of friends in no time!

The second site is r/mysingingmonsters on Reddit.

Eric, one of the Monster Handlers, made a Mega Thread of their own for friend codes:
https://www.reddit.com/r/MySingingMonsters/comments/n26p8t/monthly_friend_code_megathread/ Some of them are mobile friend codes, which can be easily told apart from the Steam friend codes, which have a similar beginning to them. All Steam friend codes have “4000” or “40000” beginning them, so if you ever see some friend code lying around that begins with 4000 or 40000, you can already know that it is a Steam friend code. He also linked the previous link in that post.

Lastly, I am here to make this Steam Guide for everyone reading this to put in your friend codes in the comment section, add everyone, and have people add you! We can all be a little closer as a community now, with all of us helping each other out in this wonderful game about monsters who can sing.

Thank you for reading
