Guide for Puzzle Chronicles – 92% achievement guide [EN]
Introduction
This is just a quick guide with basic information about obtaining most of the achievements for Puzzle Chronicles.
Be advised, for a typical player, the goal for this game would be 10 / 12 achievements, which can be obtained easily through normal means. That means a total of 83% completion ration. Minor grinding may required to get all of these, but nothing important.
The Deathbringer achievement is very grind-based and will require a lot of effort to unlock. Basically you need to complete 60 tasks, each with it’s own requirements. From my point of view, it isn’t worth it, but if you want to try, I won’t be the one to hold you back.
The Conquering Hero achievement cannot be unlocked through normal means due to a programming error. More information in it’s specific section of the guide.
Story achievements (5)
Play and finish the tutorial. I don’t know if this achievement is missable or not.
Humble Beginnings You’ve learnt what to do. Every hero has to start somewhere.
Unmissable. Defeat Zulac.
Zombie Hunter You don't need a shotgun or chainsaw to defeat the Undead, just a weapon and some gems.
Tip! If you’re going for the Deathbringer achievement, you will need to let Zulac hit you 3 times with his spells before ending the fight.
Tip! Again, for the Deathbringer achievement, you will need to beat a boss without using your Warbeast’s attacks. Any boss will do.
Unmissable. Defeat Iriki.
Basilisk’s Bane With all the dead snakes in the jungle, maybe you should open your own restaurant.
Unmissable. Defeat Arokk.
Giant Slayer The arena may miss him, but you won’t. After all, he was just a big purple dude.
Unmissable. Defeat Malvedor, the final boss.
Story’s End Our hero's saga may go on, but this part of the story is over.
Tip! If you’re going for the Deathbringer achievement, you need to beat this boss on the highest difficulty setting.
Level Up achievements (1)
Raise a skill to level 25. This can be done by either putting points afer leveling up or by training that particular skill.
Skillfully Done Now you're beginning to look like a Hero.
Tip! If you’re going for the Deathbringer achievement, you will need to raise all skills to at least level 75.
Minigames achievements (4)
Missible. Train your Warbeast to level 25 by playing the specific minigame. There’s a limit to what level you can train your Warbeast to. Can be achieved mid-game.
Dog Trainer Okay, he's house-trained, but can he herd a bunch of sheep?
Tip! If you’re going for the Deathbringer achievement, you will need to raise your Warbeast to level 50.
Missable. This achievement is pretty easy to miss as it required some specific actions. First, you will need to unlock a dungeon in a particular location by playing a specific minigame. Once the dungeon has been unlocked you will have to battle that specific monster. You must win in under 2 minutes to unlock a mini-boss battle in that area. After beating that specific mini-boss, the achievement will unlock.
Finder of Secrets Persistence isn't its own reward, secret locations are!
Tip! If you’re going for the Deathbringer achievement, you will need to unlock the dungeons and fight the mini-bosses in all 16 locations. This is because one award requires you to collect all seals. A seal can only be obtained after defeating the mini-boss.
Missible. Unlock 10 dungeons.
Dungeon Delver Monsters beware, lest your head end up on the wall.
Missible. Craft 10 items. Any item will do. You will need two items of the same quality to craft a better version of said item. Better items will be available as you progress with the story.
Craftsman You're getting good at this whole crafting business.
Tip! If you’re going for the Deathbringer achievement, you will probably get sick of crafting. Basically, you will need to craft every ultimate version of every item in the game. That means collecting two epic items of the same type and crafting the better item. This requires a lot of grinding to get the items not to mention the time to craft each item.
Grind achievements (1)
Missible. Get all 60 awards.
Deathbringer That's it! There's nothing else to do.
Beware! Each award has it’s own requirements, some of which can be trivial while others would require a lot of grinding.
To see the full set of requirements, just travel to your village and access the “Awards” screen.
Unobtainable achievements (1)
Win 15 ranked games in multiplayer. Although the image shows “15” the actual code reads “14 or more games”. This is probably a bug. I don’t know if you need 14 ranked or unranked victories, but the achievement only unlocks after a ranked match.
Conquering Hero You’ve shown the world you’re no pushover.
The Conquering Hero achievement cannot be unlocked through normal means due to a programming error. To be specific, the triggering point for the Steam achievement is located in a Xbox Live section of the code, meaning that the specified condition could never happen. Basically, unreachable code in programmer lingo.
In order to be able to get this achievement one would need to alter the game’s scripts. This is besides the point of achievement collecting, so I won’t give details for how to do this. If you want to get that 100% no matter what, there are some indications on the Steam discussion page with specific examples.
The achievement unlocks correctly but the code is unreachable. My hope is that one of the developers would spend a couple of minutes to fix this bug so it can be unlocked through normal means (although finding anyone in multiplayer would be another issue).
