Guide for Race Condition – HOWTO: Play In Split Screen Mode
Introduction
Learn how to play Race Condition in local multiplayer mode. The game supports up to four simultaneous players. One or two players can control their cars using the keyboard, while the remaining cars must be controlled using gamepads. Of course, gamepads can also be used for all four cars, and this would be the recommended setup.
The following section describes how to select input and cars for all participating players.
Selecting Cars
Start the game in either World Tour or Quick Race mode. On the Car Select screen, select the first player’s car:
When you have selected the car, the bottom right corner will show [X] MULTIPLAYER. Now, press either X button on your gamepad, or X key on the keyboard, to switch to multiplayer mode. The screen will now look like this:
You will see info in the bottom left corner on what buttons to use for joining additional cars.

- Pressing ENTER will join a player using "Keyboard Left" controls. This means using the arrow keys for navigation (and driving), while ENTER = confirm, and Backspace = cancel.
- Finally, pressing A button on a gamepad not already a*sociated with a car will join a player using that gamepad as input device.
Now, using these input schemes, add as many players as you want (up to a total of 4):
