Difficulty levels

Playing it Safe
Complete the game on Easy.
As in description you have to finish the game on easy difficulty or higher. Enemies deals little damage and there is many items like ammo or healing herb which you can use.

The Nightmare’s Finally Over
Complete the game on Normal.
As in description you have to finish the game on normal difficulty, which is the highest one you can play at your 1st playthrough. Enemies deals more damage than on easy and there are less items you can find.

Who’s Your Daddy Now?
Complete the game on Madhouse.
As in description you have to finish the game on Madhouse difficulty which you unlock when you finish the game at least once. There are several changes compared to the other difficulty levels:
– You need to use ca*sette tapes to save the game like in original games and autosaves are only after longer cutscenes.
– Enemies are faster, deals more damage and have more health points and enemies are in other places.
– Item placements from easy or normal have been rearranged, and items are rarer to come by.
– Number of antique coins that you can obtain in this difficulty. Its 33 and not like in other difficulties where its 18.
To finish the game on that difficulty try to collect as many coins as you can, check “Mad Pelicans” achievement describtion to get them easier. Another tip is to conserve ammo and health items which are very rare on that difficulty and the last one is to be patient and if you cannot go through for example Marguerite boss fight like i did, take a break and try again maybe with different tactic.

Story related

She’s Alive
Travel to Louisiana.
Story related, cannot be missed.
This one you obtain after first cutscene when you leave car.

Welcome to the Family, Son
Escape from the guest house.
Story related, cannot be missed.
This achievement unlocks after Mia boss fight in the attic of the quest house.

You Ain’t Gettin’ Away
Escape to the yard.
Story related, cannot be missed.
When you get 3 dogs heads which are the keys to the door in the main hall of the main house, use them and go outside of main house. Then you get this achievement.

The Grave Will Out the Truth
Uncover the secret in the old house.
Story related, cannot be missed.
To get this achievement you have to get D-series arm which is in the locked side of the old house. To open it you need a lamp. To get this key item you have to defeat Marguerite. After that open doors and find D-series arm.

You Better Start Running
Escape from the Baker family home.
Story related, cannot be missed.
This one you obtain after Jack boss fight in boat house and choosing who to cure with the serum.

Into the Depths
Escape from the ship.
Story related, cannot be missed.
As in description you have to leave the ship as Ethan and enter swamp area.

Kills

Things Got Personal
Finish off an enemy with the knife.
As in description you have to kill enemy using the knife. The best enemy to kill with that weapon is molded. Just attack him until he’s dead.

Less is More
Take down two or more enemies with one shot.
As in description you have to kill 2 or more enemies with one shot. This is easily done with the shotgun in the Old House. After meeting Marguerite, instead of trying to avoid her, attack her. She will send a swarm of small insects after you. Shoot the swarm and you should kill way more than two of them with one shot.

That’s a Spicy Meat-a-ball
Kill an enemy by attaching a Remote Bomb to them and detonating it.
To get it you have to equip remote bomb and have in hand. Then when you encounter big fat molded which vomit acid you have to let him grab you then put bomb in his mouth and detonate.

Collectibles

In the Bag
Increase your item slots.
To increase item slots you need to find backpack which are hidden in the game. First one you can find behind the Old House in the room with chest. The second one you can get after obtaining the snake key, you will go into a bedroom, backpack is hidden in the locker. The third one is on the first floor of wrecked ship, inside the Recreation Room. You will need to have a corrosive in hand.

Pelicans in Your Pocket
Obtain all of the Antique Coins in Easy or Normal difficulty.
There are 18 Coins hidden in the game in easy or normal difficulty, for localization of every coin check the video below.

Mad Pelicans
Obtain all of the Antique Coins in Madhouse difficulty.
There are 33 Coins hidden in the game in Madhouse difficulty, for localization of every coin check the video below.

The Devil Is in the Details
Read all of the files in a single playthrough.
There are a lot of things you can read throughout the game, but there are specific ones that count as files. There are a total of 32 in the game to obtain. You can check your stats in the pause menu to keep track. You must save the game, or have it auto save. If you retry a section or die, you must obtain the collectibles again. To find all of the files, follow the guide below.

Be Kind, Please Rewind
Watch all the videotapes in a single playthrough.
There are a total of 4 video tapes to watch. To watch them you have to find TV and use the tape on it. Tape 4 is story related and you cannot miss it. First tape you can find in the guest house, you’ll go up stairs and see this next to the first save point. Second one you can find on the second floor of the Main House inside the room with the pool table and bar. Next to the TV that you can play it on.
The third one you can find after acquiring the Snake Key, go to the kid’s Room and up the ladder (after pressing the secret switch on the lamp). Open the cupboard in the attic to find the tape.
The fourth one is on the wrecked ship and to proceed you have to watch it.

He’s Here, There, Everywhere!
Destroy a Mr. Everywhere statuette.
Check “Mr. Nowhere” achievement description.

Mr. Nowhere
Destroy all Mr. Everywhere statuettes.
There are 20 statuettes in the game. To collect statuette you have to destroy it with weapon. You can do it in every difficulty level.

Endings

End of the Night
Get ending 1.
After the boat house boss fight, you’ll have to make a decision regarding who to use the serum on. To get this achievement you have to choose Mia. Achievement unlocks when you complete the game so you can save game at this moment and play again with different choice.

Just A Memory Now
Get ending 2.
After the boat house boss fight, you’ll have to make a decision regarding who to use the serum on. To get this achievement you have to choose Zoe. Achievement unlocks when you complete the game so you can save game at this moment and play again with different choice.

Others

Behind Closed Doors
Close an open door by yourself.
You can get this achievement with any door. Just open it and press the button which make it open/close. (Default button on PC is LMP)

Arms in the Air
Block an enemy attack by guarding.
As in description, just press Block button (On PC default button is spacebar) before you get hit.

A-ha!
Obtain something by closely examining an item.
As in description, you can do it easily at the beggining of the game. Just before you enter the guest house there will be fallen tree, under it will be handbag. Take it and rotate to find Mia’s driving license. You can also do it with small orange boxes which you can find in the game.

Master of Unlocking
Use a lock pick to open something.
First lock pick you can find after Baker’s dinner cutscene when you enter safe room in laundry. Just before you leave turn right and there will be small orange box. Take it and open by examining it. There will be lock pick. Then leave the safe room and turn right and go close to boarded-up window. There will be drawer you can open with lock pick.

Nice Try
Put an unrelated object on a shadow plinth.
As in description you have to use wrong item on shadow puzzle. First shadow puzzle you can find in the main hall of main house. Just choose any item when you enter that room for the first time and achievement will be unlocked.

Open Your Eyes
Use psychostimulants.
Psychostimulants are rare item which gives you and x-ray and you can see items far away. First one you can find after solving the first shadow puzzle in the room which opened. It will lied on the table behind big deer.

Slash Slash, Slashity Slash!
Clear insects off a door using a knife.
Thats one is pretty simple. After entering the old house you will see green cabinet with insects on it. Equip knife and slash until its opened. You can do the same with the doors, for example doors which Marguerite closed in front of you.

Back Off, Mrs. B!
Fight off Marguerite while she wanders the old house to make her run away.
You can obtain this achievement only after Lucas kidnapping Mia cutscene. Then Marguerite shows up and roams around the Old House. To get this achievement you have to defeat her. Use pistol or shotgun to deal her damage and flamethrower to kill a swarm of small insects which she send against you.

Duck If You Love Life
Avoid Jack’s scissor attack by crouching.
You can earn this achievement when fighting Jack Baker in the morgue of the main house. Your search for the red dog head will lead you to this area and you are forced to fight Jack here. First what you have to do is to deal enough damage to Jack to make him take chainsaw. When Jack makes an overhand attack, crouch and avoid his chainsaw.

Fly Swatter
Shoot and knock back Marguerite while she’s leaping at you.
This one is tough one. When you encounter deformed Marguerite you have to wait until Marguerite jump on the wall or ceiling, then get ready and try to shot her. If you didnt aim well try again.

1st Place at the Science Fair
Create all items that contain Chem Fluid and Strong Chem Fluid.
There are 8 combos that you can create something new.
You can combine with Chem fluid:
– Herb to get First Aid
– Gunpowder to get 10 handgun bullets
– Supplements to get Psychostimulants
– Solid Fuel to get 100 Burner Fuel
You can also combine with strong chem fluid:
– Herb to get Strong First Aid
– Gunpowder to get 10 Enhanced Handgun bullets
– Supplements to get 2 Neuro Rounds
– Solid Fuel to get 2 Flame Rounds

Can’t Catch Me
Complete the “Mia” videotape without being spotted by Marguerite.
“Mia” video tape you can find in the room with bar in Main house. To get this achievement you have to get to the end of video, if Marguerite catch you, you will have to try again. More in video below.

Out Before Dessert
Complete the “Happy Birthday” videotape within 5 minutes.
“Happy Birthday” videotape you can find at the attic of the Main House. Do only what you have to proceed. More in the video below.

Speedrun

Just Get Me Outta Here
Complete the game within 4 hours.
As in description you have to finish the game within 4 hours. You can do “Resource Manager” and “Walk it Off” during this challenge. You can do it on any difficulty so the best option is to play in easy difficulty. Go only where you need without uselless exploration. You can also take infinite ammo which will make it easier (You have to finish Madhouse to get it). The last tip is that you should cure Mia with serum to avoid short boss fight at ship. If you die dont select “retry” option because its add time to your save, just reload game.

Other playthrough

Resource Manager
Complete the game without opening the Item Box more than 3 times.
As in description you cannot open item box more than 3 times. Unfortunately the game force you to use item box in main story 3 times so you cannot use item box if its not necessary by game.
First time you use box just before you enter Lucas’s room (You cannot enter with items, so you have to hide them in box). Second one is when you leave that room. (You have to take equipment because without it you wont kill Jack in boat house). The third one is when you leave the wrecked ship as Ethan because you will have no equipment and without it you will not be able to finish the game.
You can do “Just Get Me Outta Here” and “Walk it Off” during this challenge. If you die during boss fight there is option “item management” to take items you need. It doesnt count as opening the item box.

Walk it Off
Complete the game using only 3 First Aid Meds or less.
As in description you cannot use healing items more than 3 times. Play on Easy difficulty to make it easier and if you get too much damage just reload save. You can do “Just Get Me Outta Here” and “Resource Manager” during this challenge. Steroids doesnt count as healing item. Check the video below for all steroids locations.

DLC: Nightmare

Dead by Dawn?
Complete Nightmare.
Nightmare is survival with waves of enemies. There are scrap machine which produce scrap. Scrap is value which you can use in the shop and buy weapons, ammo or first aid. You can also upgrade your statistics like health or speed. There are 5 waves of enemies and between them there will be 2 boss fights with Jack. The best tip to complete it is to buy corrosive as fast as you can and open 2 closed doors and activate 2 more scrap machines which will give you more scrap. If you have a problem to complete it, just play more because even if you fail you will get points. If you get enough points you will get access for example for better weapons or red barrels located in random rooms.

Sleepless in Dulvey
Complete Night Terror.
Night Terror is just a harder version of Nightmare and you must complete that first to unlock this difficulty. You will be heavily tested here. Unlocking more items with points you get after game will help. More tips in “Dead by Dawn?” achievement description.

DLC: Bedroom

Like Mama Used to Make
Complete Bedroom.
Your main goal in this game mode is to escape from the bedroom. To do it you have to solve some puzzles. Be careful because sometimes Marguerite will come to bedroom to check if you are there. Before she enters the room you have to make everything look like before you get out of bed, so close the drawer, wardrobe and check if good painting is at its place. Be careful there is a drawer which gets destroyed when you try to use it and that makes you lose your first chance. After getting caught for the second time Marguerite will kill you. In video below you can find solution for all puzzles.

Ratcatcher
Find all the dead rats in Bedroom in a single play.
There are 3 rats that you have to find if you want to unlock this achievement. First one is next to the bed and a barrel with a painting on it. It lied on the ground at right. Second one you can get when you have gotten to the second meal, use the fork to eat it. After vomiting, inspect the bowl to find the rat inside. Third one you can obtain after unlocking the closest door (code: serpent, leaf, apple), you’ll find this rat on the shelf at the right.

DLC: Ethan must die

Ethan Never Dies
Complete Ethan Must Die.
This is one of the hardest achievement in game. In this game mode you have to reach Marguerite and defeat her. You have only one life and if you die you will start from the beginning. Equipment is random, you can obtain it by destroying wooden boxes but be careful and if you can stay for a while to listen. If you here tick-tack do not destroy that box because there is bomb in there which will kill you immediately. Look after tripwires which also kill you with one hit. Enemies also can kill you with one hit if you dont block it. Enemies are spawning every time in the same place so you can plan tactic for a run. Conserve ammo and first aid and dont take risk if its not neccessary because you have to survive and go to the Marguerite and its not easy. Marguerite boss fight looks a bit different than it was in the main game. She has less health points and doesnt spawn nests with insects in.

DLC: 21

Eye in the Sky
Complete 21.
2. is a deadly version of Blackjack. You have to get 21 or be as close to it as you can. Player which is closer and has not more than 21 wins. You cannot get more than 21 because even if difference is smaller you lose. There are 2 types of punishment: cutting of finger, so you can lose 5 or shock therapy which max number goes to 10. Every next round takes one more for example in 1st round you can lose 1 finger if there are no cards which make it bigger. The 2nd round if you lose you will lose 2 fingers and its goes to 5. Now about game. You can get only random card from the deck. There are 11 cards (1-11) so you have to look for your cards and enemies showed cards to predict which one you can get. There are also trump cards which can give you shield for punishment or make it smaller. It can also make bigger for enemy, take specific card you need or sabotage enemy with card which can make his score bigger than 21. To complete 21 you have to win in 3 stages. Win every stage but you have to save trump card “love your enemy” to win the 3rd stage. First 2 stages are fair, but in the 3rd one without that trump card its impossible to win because Lucas will cheat.

Card Shark
Complete Survival mode in 21.
Survival mode has you face off against 5 opponents on 1 life so if you die you have to start from the beginning. Now its pure RNG so good luck. More tips in “Eye in the Sky” achievement description.

You Gotta Know When To Hold ‘Em
Complete Survival+ mode in 21.
Its one of the hardest achievement in the game. Survival+ mode has you face off against 10 opponents on 1 life so if you die you have to start from the beginning. Its pure RNG so good luck. More tips in “Eye in the Sky” achievement description.

DLC: Daughters

Butterfly Effect
Get the bad ending in Daughters.
Its pretty simple because to get this ending you have to follow main goals and do not go at the attic.

One Instinct: Survival
Get the true ending in Daughters.
To get true ending in Daughter you will do a few extra tasks. First one is to get lock pick, go to the laundry and go into the tunnel. At the end you will find lock pick. Then go to the bathroom and open a drawer with that lock pick to get small component. Go to the kids room and use that component on trophy which will unlock the attic for you. Find the computer there and enter the code 1019 (this number was found by looking at Lucas in the kitchen, as he entered in his pin number on his phone). Play like you would normally (from above bad ending) and once you use the fork on the screw to get outside, follow the path to the end to squeeze through an opening. Here you will find the red box with the dog head inside. Now go through the dog doors to the yard. Enter the camper and watch the cutscene with true ending.

DLC: Jack’s 55th Birthday.

Don’t Keep the Man Waiting
Clear a stage with a 10 minute time bonus or higher in Jack’s 55th Birthday.
To get this achievement you have to choose map with many enemies. A time bonus is the additional time you gain by damaging enemies. In my opinion the best option is Main House 2. Take Speed 2 and Brawler and Time bonuses α-1 and β-1 with Golden Crowbar to maximize time bonus for killing enemies. Follow the video below to get this.

Miracle Chef
Feed Jack every type of food and drink in Jack’s 55th Birthday.
You must feed every type of food by itself, as well as combined in order to get the achievement. You might just eventually get this while going for S ranks, or you can keep track in game.

Get an S Rank or higher on all stages in Jack’s 55th Birthday.
To get and S rank on all stages you have to get very good score so you will need unlock some weapons and upgrades. To make it easier watch the video below for special tactics.

DLC: End of Zoe

Promise Kept
Complete End of Zoe on Easy or Normal.
As in description you have to complete End of Zoe on Easy or Normal dififculty. Avoid Gators which can kill you instantly, use spears to kill them from distance. Fists are your best weapons so use them against every enemy you encounter. There are many checkpoints and auto-saves so it isnt very hard to complete.

King of the Swamp
Complete End of Zoe on Joe Must Die.
This difficulty is not unlocked from the start, you have to finish this game mode at least once on Normal difficulty. In this difficulty there will be more enemies which will deal you more damage. There will also be boxes with bombs inside so if you can stay and listen. If you here tic-tac, do not destroy that box because it will deal you damage. Look after tripwire because there will be plenty of them. You will need to find Ca*sette tapes to be able to save your game, but there should be plenty so save when you need to, but there are less number of auto saves what can makes game a bit harder. Equip AMG-78a which will make this easier.

The Only Guns You Need
Complete End of Zoe on Normal or Joe Must Die using no weapons.
As in description you cannot use weapons like shotgun or throwing knife but you can still use AMG-78a or double gauntled so i recommend to do it after you complete this game mode in the highest difficulty. One of the hardest moment can be in the areas with Gators but dont worry. If you equip at least one gauntlet you can kill them with fully loaded attack.

Fastest Man in the Swamp
Complete an Extreme Challenge in End of Zoe.
This one is pretty simple. To unlock an Extreme Challenge you have finish this game mode for at least one time, but dont worry you dont have to do every single challenge in game. Only one is enough. I recommend to do the first challenge on Normal difficulty. To complete Extreme Challenge you have to kill all enemies before the timer goes to 0.

Queensberry Rules
Perform a 4-hit combo with your bare fists in End of Zoe.
This one is pretty simple. You can do it on body which hangs on the tree outside the cabin which you will leave at the beginning of the game. Use combo: right hit, left, right, left.

Swamp Warfare
Stealth kill 5 enemies in End of Zoe.
There are plenty of chances to get stealth kills. To perform a stealth kill get behind a Molded and press attack button.

DLC: Not a Hero

Mission Accomplished
Complete Not a Hero on Easy or Normal difficulty.
This game mode is very short, you can complete it under hour. Follow the main tasks to proceed.

You’re the Hero Now
Complete Not a Hero on Professional difficulty.
To complete this game mod on Professional difficulty you should conserve ammo and first aids. You can also look for all coins which you can use to buy upgrades from cages. There are 2 boss fight which can be very hard. First one is just before nitro which can save you from explosion. You have to kill big fat molded what is not easy because it has many health points. The second fight is the final fight with Lucas which deal big damage, has many health points and has a hit which can you kill with one hit.
