Terraria – Master mode For the worthy playthrough

0. Introduction

 
Hello fellow terrarian. 
I have been playing terraria for quite a while now and did all the difficulty avalaible. 
But once I beaten all of that I wanted to play the game more. 
Instead of being reasonable and try playing with mods I choose to beat the game on master mode on the special seed “For the worthy”. (in softcore because I have a mental health to keep) 
I know this has been done again and again but that won’t stop me from posting this post. 
 
So no I won’t tell you some secret way to beat boss. 
Instead I will count my story to you. 
At the time I am writing this I just beat the Wall of flesh so some detail before that might be innacurate 
 
Just to clarify I won’t use glitch or bug like duplication or invicibility I will still abuse weakness like pattern, also I don’t stick to a cla*s I like playing with everything avalaible. 
 
 

1. The begining

 
So here I am starting a new world ready to conquer it. 
My first reflex was to make a house for the guide and the demolitionist this way the spawn would be considered a small city and the spawn rate will greatly be reduced. 
Once this done I start exploring with the goal of acquiring chest. 
I died. 
On the right side there is a desert and unfortunally vulture one hit me. 
I am able to dodge them for a while bit I was unable to found chest in a desert and I died at the point of entering the Tundra. 
So instead I go right. 
I died. 
On the right side there is an oasis featuring the same problem of a desert. 
So now the night is falling, instead of exploring I start digging an hellevator, this will give me access to ressource and a quick way to go to hell, all of this while avoiding figting. 
You might think that is took a long time to mine but not really, on this seed you get to mine twice as fast. 
 
So that resume the first few hours of my experience. 
Mining to get upgrade, trying to explore to get chest and avoiding fighting 
 
Once I armed enought I got to the crimson and destroyed some orb. 
I choose crimson because ichor will give me huge amount of DPS, also I don’t think that the 17% damage reduction will mater in late game, also the brain of confusion  
will be a huge help in the empress of light battle during day. 
 
With all of this equipement its time to get better equipement by killing boss 
 
As a side note mushroom biome and moss cavern are beautiful 
 
 

2. The first boss

 
The first boss I did was the eye of cthulhu it was pretty hard I was very lucky because I found an enchanted sword  
wich is ultra strong at this point of the game. 
With my gold armor, my enchanted sword and my crimson rod  
I beat the EoC in 3-4 try. 
I didn’t used potion I kind of regret that now. 
This grant me access to the shield of cthulhu  
wich is a blessing, with my hermes boot  
and this shield I was able to dodge much more effectively. 
 
 

3. What happened until the wall of flesh

 
Now that I have the shield of cthulhu, I could go anywhere without dying instantly 
The second boss I did was the king slime I did die stupidly but the boss in itself was no big deal 
So now I have 3 option, brain of cthulhu, queen bee or skeletron 
I focused on the BoC, for that I created an arena on the surface, during this process I collected a lot of material to spawn him I also made a vile mushroom farm 
Here is what my arena look like 
 
I got destroyed 
Seriously it took me like 10 try to beat him because once I mastered the first phase (wich is the hardest) I had a lot of infuriating death on mob that spawn during that boss fight 
The second phase is actually very easy but its tiring and long it require full concentration 
If you wonder why its because on this seed you can’t difference the brain and his illusion during the second phase my strategie was to look at the map and shooting in the general direction with a minishark 
 
 
Then I did the Queen Bee 
I build a huge arena (you can see it on the right) its a hard fight but short. 
Beozar  
helped me a lot during that fight 
I wanted to farm her for the beenade but I was unable to kill her without the help of potion 
 
During all of that I tried multiple time skeletron , I couldn’t even scratch him, I decided to take on the Wall of Flesh and skip skeletron 
 
 

4. The wall of flesh

 
First I want to tell that I hate hell. 
Normaly in cave enemy spawn in place where they can’t access you but because hell is just a big open way all enemy that spawn can access you. 
That a pain to achieve anything in hell. 
I hate hell. 
So as alway I make and arena for the Wall of flesh here is what it look like:This goes on for almost the whole hell. 
If you wonder why its because this boss have 24 000 HP. 
I first tried the boss with rail but that didn’t worked well, I didn’t have enought vertical mobility. 
Then I placed plateform that was better. 
But I keep dying when the WoF start fast firing . 
So I did that : 
 
The laser don’t go past wall so I was safe from the eye. 
The railway that I did earlier also helped me a lot because I could go faster than the WoF on the very end. 
So I took all my best potion and tried to kill it. 
I failed, I hate hell. 
Then I tried again. 
And I did it! 
And this is when I decided to make this story. 
And now I hate hell less because the mob here don’t all one shot me 
Seriously I took 380 damge in the crimson and a green slime have 500 hp 
 
 

5. A new beginning…

 
So after I killed the WoF I started exploring the world to locate the hallow 
I didn’t found it I guess its on a flying island 
Right after that I got a blood moon 
I focused on fishing 
I never though I would enjoy animal cruelty this much 
 
Now that I think about it I never showed you my base 
So here you go it not beautiful but its good enough 
 
Anyway the “shark” gave me Blood Thorn  
that make me a very strong early harmode 
 
After that I got a pirate map and obtained The Black Spot. 
wich in my opinion is the best mount obtainable from master mode (RIP prenerf black spot). 
Of course during that event a wyvern and The Twins spawned during a storm. 
 
After that I farmed a lot of light soul and got all the item from an hallowed mimic 
Before I did the same with night soul I made an AFK farm so I needed a lot of wall  
 
Arround 5 seconde after I made this screen shot I got a feedback from god 
 
I also did an arena for the mecanical boss

Before taking on my first mecanical boss I killed skeletron. 
 
 

6. The mecanical boss

 
Killing The destroyer was surpisingly easy ,I admit i cheesed him a little . 
I exploited the way that worms type spawn and hit all the 162 part at the same time with life drain  
and nimbus rod

Now that I got the hallowed armor I could take on harder boss 
 
Or so I thought. 
I fought the twin and win with my second try, I did used the nurse 3 time and prepared a lot of potion but I still killed them in 2 try. 
 
Squeletron prime wasn’t a walk in the parc, it took 4 or 5 attempt using full potion and a prepared arena  
 
My arena consist of a line of dungeon block so his bomb don’t destroy my world (yes FTW squeletron’s bomb destroy block) and under sunflower, campfire and peace candle (seriously I die like 3 time because of mob) 
My main weapon were golden shower  
for the armor reduction , Meteor Staff  
for the huge single target output and life drain to regen between the occasionalhit I took. 
My strategie was to focus the laser arm and then focus the head, eventually the other arm get destroyed because they stood in the way and I kill the boss 
 
Its also as that time that I discovered that I could buy corrupted seed to the dryad in a graveyard 
 
Now it was time for plantera 
I do have some strategie planned but I don’t know if they will work on this seed. 
 
 

7. Plantera

 
THAT WAS VERY easy. 
I might have over prepared, basicaly I dug a deep and large tunnel and just stayed out of range with black spot during the first phase I just make turn arround her and during the second phase I go up and down eventually I get to the surface so I go past her using a rod of discord (yea I farmed a lot) 
. 
I used golden shower and meteor staff for the DPS and that it.

As I said I farmed a lot so I got 5 key (No desert sadly) , unfortunally corruption one will be useless as the chest won’t spawn 
 
 
 

8. The golem

 
I completly switched equipement 
Until now I was playing mage but the instant I killed plantera I go to the golem and get all the chest, and my favorite weapon: vampire knife  
 
And know I am a tank with turtle armor and Worm scarf  
(also I got the desert key now) 
The golem was a piece of cake, only 3 try without preparing the terrain, the insane regeneration that those knife bring is enought to let you play like its expert (like a casual). 
So lets go to the pillar shall we? 
 
 

9. The pillar

 
Just before the pillars I have to defeat the lunatic cultist wich is not hard but do require a few try. 
I also farmed the dungeon a little so I get full specter armor and some magical weapon. 
I also get 3 shield and a hammer for arround 6 palladin I guess i got lucky. 
 
So I first started by nebula because I am playing mage. 
That was pain. 
I got 2 shot by everything (like always lol) AND mob are tanky like at least 8000 hp 
Don’t forget that they have purple ranged attack on purple back ground and a mob that teleport. 
I really hated that and I don’t want to do it again so that would be cool if I can do moonlord first try. 
 
Then I did the stardust pillard because I will get a power full summon wich is just free DPS. 
It was a easy pillard I still died a few time because of the squid that one shot me. 
 
If you though that nebula pillard was bad, you didn’t see solar. 
I did solaire so I won’t have to fight a hard pillard before moonlord and I was right to do that. 
The solar pillard is insane there is like 1 mob that don’t one shot me. 
 
I got lucky because the border was were I make my giant plantera hole so most melee mob couldn’t get me. 
I hate solar pillard I don’t have the word to explain the atrocity this thing. 
 
So now before I destroy the final pillard I must make some preparation. 
I want to defeat the duke fishron and the empress of light to get better wing. 
I would like the cosmic car but I forgot that I wouldn’t spawn martien invasion while the pillard are active (I spend 2 day in game trying to make the event spawn) 
 
 

10. The MoonLord!

 
The fight itself wasn’t very hard 
The hardest part is making the boss spawn 
 
Still I failed at least 10 time (I did the pillars multiple time) 
I was fed up with dying again and doing pillard so I did a break 
After 1 to 2 week I started terraria , finished the pillard and tried the boss. 
I did it first try with no potion effect. 
What I conclude is once you block on something don’t just waste time and take a break. 
Well I did it!

11. Conclusion

 
So here is the end of my challenge, I took arround 2 month (With 66 hours of playtime) to do this (with break) 
I don’t recommand taking the challenge but I do recommand trying it a little (like until the EoC) 
The normal enemy are often more dangerous than the boss themself, they do a lot more damage 
 
I made 2 chest with a lot of item I got attached (whatever the reason, some are because they helped me some are because I simply like them) to: 
 
 
 
 
There is also a third chest with my favorite item this run 
 
 
In the end I didn’t kill the empress of light as it was planned
