Guide for Thousand Threads – Chests & Tips
Collectibles
Treasure Hunter Open all chests.
There are six types of collectibles found throughout the world (plants and fungi, stones, animal skins, artifacts, fossils and chests) linked to a total of fourteen achievements. Plants and fungi can be picked up right from the ground while stones are collected by breaking down the individual pieces of rock with the help of your pickaxe. Rabbits, deer, bears and wolves can be killed to get their skins. The plants, the rocks and the animals re-spawn in set intervals. Artifacts are found in the stone chests located within the archeological sites – the sites themselves get marked in your map as you come near them. Treasure in the form of coins and resources can be found in the wooden chests, of which there are 39. Since the wooden chests are easier to miss, here is an externally marked map roughly showing where to look for them:
(Original map by Nocturn, I only added the red-colored dots for the chests).
Professional Paleontologist Find all the fossils.
There are 18 fossils to be found under the breakable rocks. Their locations are fixed like the stone and wooden chests. Refer to this guide by the developer himself in case you miss any.
Hidden Achievements
Snooping Open a piece of mail.
Honorable Delivery Deliver a piece of mail without opening it.
There are a maximum of 29 mails to be picked up and delivered throughout the game, linked to a total of seven achievements. Drop by the postmaster in the Foothills after delivering every mail in a batch to get further instructions. The ‘Mail’ sub-screen has an option for reading through any mail as long as it is not delivered yet. Read through any to get ‘Snooping’. Deliver any without reading it to get ‘Honorable Delivery’.
Giver Donate to save a life.
Avid Giver Donate to save 25 lives.
Professional Giver Donate to save 100 lives.
A donation machine is located besides the general store in the Humming Plains. Every donation to ‘save a life’ costs 20 coins. Donate for a hundred times to unlock these three achievements.
Loner (No description provided.)
This achievement requires you to kill all the people in the world, excluding the shopkeepers. You can keep track of the living and the dead through the ‘People’ sub-screen. It is best to go for this one last and avoid killing people early on, as it is perfectly possible to get locked out of the achievements linked to jobs and deliveries by doing so.
